As noted in my reporting, artificial intelligence (AI) is set to become one of the key pillars of technology's revolution, according to Apple Inc.'s Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook on December 1, 2025.
Cupertino Research Facility will cover an 80,000-square-foot area and accommodate 500 AI researchers and engineers. Apple already hired 250 specialists by 2025; plans call for adding another 500 by the end of 2026.
Comparatively, Amazon Inc. allotted $800 million towards AI research in 2024 while Alphabet, Google's parent company, pledged an incredible $1.2 billion commitment towards such initiatives by May 2025.
On December 2, 2025, Linda Stevens from Goldman Sachs declared: "AI market size reached $40 billion by 2024", in my estimation; market research director David Thompson of Forrester Research Inc noted a 35% expansion rate during 2025.
Apple expects its new AI research center will be completed by June 30, 2026 with construction starting January 2, 2026.
